Can someone go over each type of string and explain what they sound, feel, what music they're made for, etc? I used to think that strings were just strings, but now that I need new strings, I have to learn a few things before I buy anything.

Flats have a dull thud sound and are very stiff. Some people like this im not one of them. Roundwound strings are great. I love ernie ball hybrid roundwounds. They have that classic rock sound. Stainless steel round wounds are good too although they seem to chew up your fingers more. I tryed a set of dean markley blue steels and after 7 years of playing they seemed to make blisters come back on my fingers when I first got them. It only happened once though and stainless steel is soposed to last longer. Ground wounds are strings I would love to try they are round wound strings that are ground down to have a feel like flats.

Check out the FAQ at the top of the "Strings" page for a ton of info you'd like to find out about.

The following link should take you to it.

I'm kind of in the same situation. I have a Modulus Flea and my buddy, who I bought it from, gave me a set of GHS Boomers with it. Now, I have a Geddy Jazz, so I have that sound covered, so what I thought about doing was getting strings that will provide that extra "boom" on the Flea. I guess I want the low end low. Any suggestions would be great! I didn't mean to steal a thread, but like I said, we are in the same situation.
