Please Help! 6 string tone & string type!

Sign in to disble this ad
I had recently bought an esp b206 and had it strung from BEADGC to EADGCF. The guitar tech I went to put on round wound strings (both at fault, he didn't ask and I didn't request). I like my tone warm and thick so the "bright" strings sound terrible to me. I keep my knobs at volume 100% and all my tone knobs at 0%. Should I use flatwound? Does string gauge thickness affect tone? How about brand name, does it matter? Also I want to learn slap and two hand tapping, will the warm tone I want keep me from playing these styles? Thanks in advance!
