Question Please help identify these old strings!

Hi!

I just bought a 1978 Fender Precision which sounds great. For some reason I wanted to see if new strings would make it sound even fatter. I put on some D'addario Half Rounds. To be able to do a proper A-B test, I recorded the same bass line with both the old and the new strings. The old ones had much more bottom in them!

I would like to try a new set of whatever those old strings were.
They are round wounds, have black threads(?) in both ends, and the ball is also black.

The seller thinks he bought these strings sometime in the first half of the 80's.

Any ideas? Thanks!

A lot of basses come with cheap, no-name strings.
They usually have black or red thread, but I/ve never seen ones with black ball end.
Don't know dude, sorry!
Good luck!
