He's one of our resident string gurus. From the photo they look like they could be GHS strings but which I couldn't say. |

They are Stainless Steel MTD Strings (Michael Tobias Designs).
I would have first said DR Hi-Beam Flats but there is no silk by the ball ends...
MTD Stainless Steel have that yellow / gold wrap with no silk by the ball. MTD Nickel Plated Steel have a silver / white wrap.
Photo is kind of washed out... I can't post my better image though...

Several months ago I had an opportunity to try out an MTD 535 (made in '06) with 3~4-year-old original strings. The .130 B was dead out. I changed the set with Hi-Beams 40-120 and everything went excellent since then.
Now I kinda try out some MTD nickel 40-120. |

Don't worry, Jason, I'm not trying to steal your thunder! I don't have as much experience with strings as you, nor have I ever played strings with gold silk!

Arent the SR-2000's Tapered on the A and E strings though?
I was not trying to be snoopy... After I replied to this thread I noticed OP was selling a MTD Kingston, my guess too is these strings came off of that.
Josh - I appreciate pointing out other products that may be similar etc! Please never hesitate to correct me |

Chances are they're MTD strings if he's selling a Kingston! You're too good, Jason! You're just too good!

They don't really mention it too much or give a good description of which are tapered which is unfortunate.
(Edited to list correct tapered strings thanks Thundar)!

Getting the images up this week.

As I have always used TI acousticores and jazz rounds and Labella black nylon flats, this was my first time really checking out SS.
Nice sounding strings and if I keep the bass, might want more. |

They do sound pretty good. I have used them on my MTD535 and my Ken Smith's... They ended up on the smith by accident and I ended up diggin them... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
