Hey guys, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm a new bass player and I'm seeking some assistance. I can't ID the type of strings I have on a bass I purchased on EBay. It's a used Mexican Fender P Bass. I got a good deal, plus the bass is in super nice shape and has a set of strings on it that I love!
I also own a Yahama 170 bass and I'd like to restring it with the same type of strings, but can't seem to correctly ID the type of strings on the Fender. I took the Fender to a local guitar shop, and the guy there didn't have a clue either.
The strings on the Fender have black thread around the tips of the strings (the part that goes into the tuning post). The strings themselves are your standard silver colored strings, but feel 'softer' than your average string, almost like they are coated, even though you can still feel the ridges of the windings.
The bridge end of the strings have a copper (or gold) colored loop, with black windings around the very tip of the strings just before they connect to the loop. All of the strings have the same black colored thread (windings?) at both ends.
Anyone have any idea what type of string (brand, type, etc) I might have? Thanks a million...
