Please identify my strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all

Can you please help me identify the strings I have on my Hagström Scanbass? They were installed when I've got this bass and the previous owner don't remember what they are...

These are stainless roundwound strings, of rather dull grey color, no silk wrappings on either side. Windings make left-handed screw if you see what I mean...

No exposed core or taperwounds on the bridge side.

Here are the closeups:

Thank you!

Only rounds i've owned that had no silk were Ernie Balls, which have brass ball-ends. But i dont know for sure, i've not owned alot of rounds.

Fenders have silk wrappings (7*** and 9*** Fenders anyway, not sure about other references)

I'm racking my brain right now, as I seem to remember having a set like that at one point. My first thought was Web Strings, but they use brass ball ends, and the winding on the other end is tight, at least on the backup set I have.

The Fender 8250s don't have silk IIRC, but the E-string is tapered, and they are NPS.......this might be what I'm thinking of, which isn't what you have.

I'm stumped.

Does it matter what kind they are? when you change them, you'll know then, exactly what kind are on your bass.

The look like Fender strings.

I just bought a Fender Jag and those strings look just like the ones that were installed.

I've googled closeup images of Fender Jag Bass and the stock strings look exactly like mine, thank you, PortugalWillie!

Now, what Fender reference are they? I see the Jags supposed to be shipped with Fender Super 7350 Stainless strings. BUT the 7350 I've seen had red silks on the bridge side. Maybe they make 7350's without silks in Japan where Jags are made...

All this actually pleases me a lot, I am actually Fender strings fan. Since few years, every time I change strings I get Fenders - 9050L Flats or 7250M nickel plated steels, they feel right, sound great, last longtime and are very affordable.
Looks like the strings I have on my Hagström are no exception to the rule, I like them very much
I will add some 7350M's to my next music-oriented order

I liked those strings but they died really fast.

Glad I could help though!
