| poppy sounding strings???

I just replaced my strings with Fender Super Bass 7250's Nickleplated steel roundwounds and they are really poppy and trebbly sounding. I don't know why or if they are supposed to be like that because my last strings were more mellow and bassy. How can I fix this or are the strings supposed to sound this way?
