preasurewound or half rounds/mm sterling

i have a new musicman srterling. Just woundered if anyone else has tried either preasure wound(ghs) or half round (D'Adarrios) on a sterling before. Man could i write a review about my sterling please don't think this means im unpleased with it. just tweeking my sound

I use pressurewounds on a variety of my basses - they get you 98% of a roundwound sound, with less fretwear.
I tried halfrounds once (they came on a bass I bought) and didn't care for the feel or sound.

If you're after a roundwound sound, but slightly mellower (partly because they're nickle, not steel) I'd go for pressurewounds.

I don't have a sterling, but I recently tried half rounds on my Pedulla. They felt horrible to me, I also thought as a string set they were uneven and lacked any zing. I went back to nickle rounds.

What is the difference between half round and pressurewound?

thanks this is some good feedback for me to get a good idea. afterall preasure wound are alot less money

I am curious if you put the pressure wounds on the Sterling? and your thoughts.. thinking of trying it myself..

Got D'Addario Half Rounds (ENR71) .045-.100 on my EBMM Sterling 4 H at present.

I like 'em better than the very old rounds that were on it when I got it. The half-rounds sound better on the Sterling than on my other basses.

Sterlings are very bright, trebly, so a half-round or pressurewound will suit some players.

I do want to try more strings on the Sterling, though. I don't feel like I'm "there" yet.

I never even got comfortable with the sterling. Seemed like treble always was there, ( thus the half round and round wound). I really think I would have been happier with a sting ray slo model for the thinessof neck, now I have an ibanez sr500 and a sbmm ray 34 my 2 main basses and a fender mustang and I really feel I got basses covered. Btw all are round wounds accept the mustang, it wears flats, sorry this isn't much but I really only searched for my sound on the sterling, and it was amp issues too. Now I'm a hartke player and I have a mb115 gk. Thanks guys so not alot of help from me u geuss
