Pressure / Half Wound Strings: No Silks

Are there any Pressure Wound / Half Round type strings out there that do not hald silk wraps on the tuning peg side (best if no wraps at all, even on Ball End).

Thanks!

Nice, good suggestion! I just read about them, and I'm liking what I read. How would they compare (tonewise) to GHS Pressurewounds?

I plan on using them on a Cort B4FL Fretless

Pressure type = SIT Silencers. They are Nickel Plated Steel

Half-Rounds / Ground Rounds
- D'Addario Half-Rounds - Pure Nickel
- SIT Power Flats - Pure Nickel

Actually we can also take the Power Flats off the Half-Round list it looks like.

I just opened up a new package... They have Blue Silk on them and they look to be a true Flatwound string (not a half-round).

They have not updated info on their website yet so I have a message into them already. Looks like we have a new set of flats out there!

What exactly is the advantage to not having silk?

The silk doesn't fray after a while. And some don't like it. Its all cosmetic but some will say silk helps protect hardware from scratches.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I think I'm going to give the SIT Silencers a shot.

Cool, plus they are made right there in Ohio!

You can register an account here:
https://www.bassstringsonline.com/register.asp?cg=0

Put in the comments section you are a forum member and I will apply VIP status to your account. Then you will see the lower pricing automatically as long as you are signed in.

Although the SIT strings are already very well discounted at this time.

Ok, sounds good. I already registered though, so i put a comment that I was a TB member in the "Add Request" in my account. Will that work? No problem if no discount this time around, just wanted to set up the account for future purchases. Thanks. I can see you guys are awesome already!

Wow. That would be interesting! The "old" Power Flats were probably the worst strings I've ever used. I'd love to see these new ones!

I like the SIT Silencers because they seem to straddle the sonic line between ground wound/flat wound and they don't tear up my hands. Plus the SIT Silencers last a good long while and are inexpensive too, especially from Jason.
