Problems with Chromes

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a set strung on my MIA P-Bass Deluxe. I prefer to string them thru the body. However, the E string wasn't long enough so I ended up stringing that one thru the bridge. The other strings were perfect length.
I did order the long scale. Has anyone else found this to be a problem?

Thanks for the input.

Yeah they use an awful lot of nylon. It's not too big a deal if the nylon extends past the nut a bit, but next set I'm going to buy is the 36-38 in scale. I also noticed that that set tends to be cheaper (probably because fewer people are buying them). Seems like a win/win.

Chromes are available in super long if that helps you? There long gauge is ideal for string through bridge 34 scale. The Ernie Ball flats are a tiny bit longer. Me I wouldn't string flats through the body and stress the string like that regardless of other opinions as after many many years of playing there's no audible difference of strings through the body or through the bridge.

The XL DD Chromes just clear the nut at full string diameter on my 35" scale 55-01 Lakland. And that is strung thru the bridge of course.

+1 on Toneman's comments about super longs.
