PYRAMID GOLD FLATS-WHERE SHOULD I PUT THEM?

Sign in to disble this ad
I finally found a set of Pyramid Gold Flats for a decent price. Now I am deciding where to use them. I have an MIJ P Bass with a very hot G & L MFD split coil pickup that grinds a little too much with DR Hi-Beam Flats on it now. I also have a G & L L-1000 (single humbucker) using the same strings which are not a great match-something's missing.

I play Blues and Classic Rock and like a big sound. I use TI flats on my other basses and am hoping the Pyramids will give me the TI's precise articulation, especially on the D and G string, but with a bigger LaBella like sound.

Pyramid Users, any comments about these strings are appreciated!

I'd put them on the P-bass. They will have more "thud" than the TI's, and sound more "60's". Do you like the sound that Carl Radle got on the Layla record? This will put your P-bass right into that.

I put them on the L-1000 which is essentially a P-Bass anyway. It's too early to tell, but so far so good. Feel good, fairly low tension and the sound breaks up very sweetly. Seem like a cross between LaBellas and TI's.
