This past week I came to that point again. It was time to change the strings on my 5 string. Well, I was tired of Boomers and Elixirs and all the other rubbish, so I thought I'd try something new. I cruised over to the great guys at C.B. Perkins in the San Fran Bay Area and asked what I should do. They recommended Pyramid Gold Flatwounds, since I liked the smooth sound and feel offered as opposed to Roundwounds. Needless to say, when I played them that night in a stadium sized building they roared! Man did these strings rock! The tone is phenomenal as well as how easy they are to play. After a few hours of playing, my fingers were not sore at all. I play a mix of rock, indie, jazz, metal, pop, and ambient music, and these strings are the best I've used. Simply the best! |

in my opinion though, for finger-style playing they're definitely the way to go. |

it is the pyramid gold!!!
you cant get a more bass string than that... all other strings sound like guitar strings compared to the Golds!!!

Does anyone know if these can be strung through-body? Or are they only designed for top-load bass bridges?
Also, anyone know the best place to get them off the web? |

| | | | love the pyramid flats-i have used 'em on a variety of basses for years and they always sound great. i had a set on a rickenbacker 4000,but the tension was too much for it, pulling the bridge up,so i reluctantly removed 'em. i put them over on a danelectro hodad, and they kick! i prefer them to the TI's,because of the higher tension. |

They are the most pleasant-feeling strings to play. Unfortunately, my Rivoli is having electronics issues right now, so I can't enjoy playing it... But when I get a new short-scale hollowbody, I'm definitely putting Pyramid flats on it.
