Pyramid Golds On A Lakland?

Sign in to disble this ad
How do I determine if long scale Pyramid Gold strings will fit and go through the bass on my Lakland 4-94 USA? I've used them and luv 'em, but only on a short scale Hofner. They're too expensive to buy then find they don't fit. Thanks!

If you are talking about the Pyramid flatwounds I wouldn't string them thru the body. The break angle is pretty severe for flatwounds and most manufacturers don't recommend thru body stringing because of possible/probable damage. The longscale fit perfectly on a Fender P or J thru the bridge.

Yes, manufacturers don´t recommend using them thru the body, but I´ve been doing so with Labella, TIs, Rotosound, Chromes... and Pyramid on my Fender American Jazz bass for years. Maybe I´m lucky, which i´m not, but no problems yet 8-).

I don´t think your Lakland is much taller than my Fender, so they should fit if you choose to try.

Regards.

TI flats will go through the body on a Lakland 55-94 with no problem, so should work on the 44-94. I used Lakland JO flats and they don't recommend through the body on those, however.

I have Pyramid Gold flats on my Skyline Decade (through the bridge) - a very nice string that works well with the Chisonics.
