For the most versatility I would go with GHS pressure wound Not too brite not without some top end zing but also thumpy sort of like flats to a point.

I realize that isn't one set but I haven't been completely converted to flatwound strings. If I had to pick one right now, I would probably end up with the Chromes.

I am having a Precision built that is going to come with a set of Fender 9050Ms so we'll see how that ends up. I've got a set of Chromes on my Squier CV Jazz that I could take if the Fender strings aren't working for me. I wouldn't mind going back to roundwound strings for that bass anyway. I've got my fingers crossed that the 9050M set will be nice, though. I've been doing some searching and reading some reviews. I'm excited to try them out.

Ok, I took the bass to an audition last night and used it with D'Addario XL Nickelwounds. I was not knocked out.I felt I was missing some "thump". I thinking about trying some D'Addario Chromes on it. Do you guys think it would be a good compromise between a flat and a roundwound sound ? I want to cover alot of ground,Motown,Blues,Classic Rock,Old School (slapin') Funk. What do you think ?

Do any of you like D'Addario Half Rounds as what they are touted to be....half way between the qualities of a roundwound and flatwound string?
