Question about using old strings (Chromes)

Sign in to disble this ad
I have had a set of Chromes on my MIJ P for a while now, and they sound like they were custom made for my bass. I love 'em, they sound like Cool Whip tastes. Still, I can't help but want to try other strings.

Do flatwound strings lose anything as far as tone if they're taken off and put back on (like roundwounds do?). Flatwounds don't really have much brightness to lose, so I didn't know if its worth keeping them to put back on, or if I should just plan to replace them.

They don't....at least not in my experience. Chromes are most definitely the way to go.
