yeah so i went to guitar trader today and tried out a fretless fender bass, and it was cool and all except for the strings... im guessing they were flatwounds( but i dunno exactly wut those r so im just guessing) and they felt relle sticky.... r all strings for fretless basses sticky? or wus it just those strings? im just wondering

Guitar trader huh? I used to live in Santee. Flat-wounds look like they have metal tape wrapped around them and are pretty smooth to the touch. They used to be real popular, but aren't so much anymore. Round-wounds look like they are wrapped in wire and are rougher to the touch. Neither should be sticky, unless I misunderstood what you meant by sticky. They let everyone play their instruments don't they? Someone may have had dirty hands that played it. You should be able to slide pretty smooth with flat-wounds. Round-wounds are tougher on the fingers till you get calloused. Most people nowadays like the sound of Round-wounds or like me even Steel Round-wounds though they are tougher on the frets, or fingerboard in your case.

That used to be "music central" there at Rolando and El Cajon Blvd. Guitar Center on one side of the street. Guitar Trader on the other side. Feedom Guitar used to be there. 2 repair shops and an Organ place.
Heck, when I fist started GC was downtown on B, and Freedom Guitar was around the corner from them.
At least you can park @ Guitar Center where they moved. Used to have a time of it when they were on El Cajon Blvd. with all the others on the weekend.

Flats that have been used by the masses seem to feel "stickier" than the sets that i've used.

But flats are going to stick a little. Wash your hands first and always wash your hands before playing. It helps. Any extra moisture on your hands will increase the stick.
