Quick question on DR gauges

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys....some searching didn't get me the answer i was looking for, though i'd be surprised if this hasn't been discussed. I've heard DR string gauges feel different than other brands because of the way they are built; first off, is this true? Secondly, if there is a difference, will it show up within the DR line of strings as well? Specifically, i use hibeams 40-100 on my jazz and want to try a set of sunbeams for a fretless. would 40-100 feel the same?
I know some people can handle various gauges, but i must have the same feel on all my basses and the dr 40-100's are perfect. I just don't want the same sound.

thanks

Yes, 40-100 sunbeams will feel the same as the 40-100 Highbeams, at least they do to me.

Sunbeams and high beams have the same type of round core, and feel very similar in the same guages. Low riders have hex cores and feel a little bit tighter.
