the first thing i do is stretch the hell out of them by lifting the bass with them and playing some slap. never heard of letting it sit.

haha, never tried that.
damn now that i think of it, it's been at LEAST 6-7 months since a string change.

Sometimes I'm very gingerly and gentle with my (new) strings, and other times, I beat the heck out of them so I can get them to hold a tune immediately.

As it stands, I could care less about how much longevity to shoot for, as I time my batter changes/ string changes / audiologist visits / dental appointments, all on the exact same 6 month intervals...

(I'm just Obsessive compulsive like that)
