re-using dead strings

I think I read somewhere that you can boil dead strings and reuse them and they sound like new...is that true? and by boiling, is it really boiling like pasta?

Soaking in denatured alcohol is a better way to go, in my opinion.

You may find it helpful to do a search on "denatured alcohol." There's lots of good threads on it. This is a good one to start with:
