Re-using Strings

I had a set of Elixer Nanoweb Mediums on my old P-bass which I have now taken the frets off and have D'Addario flatwounds on, and I didn't use these Elixers very much. Would it be a bad idea to put these on my new bass?

How did you finish the neck?
If there is a thick layer of poly, than it should hold it's own against the abbrasiveness of roundwounds. You'll get a different tone, though.

Hmm, not trying to sound mean when saying this, but I think you misinterpreted the thread, probably my fault. I want to take the old roundwounds off of my Pbass (since i'm using flatwounds now) and put it on my new bass which has the stock strings.

I hope that helps.

It'll work.

I keep switching back and forth between the SX stock strings and DR HighBeams which were on my Ibanez RB800...works good, just don't expect them to sound new :P

I do that between my main and secondary basses (cuz I'm too cheap to get new strings). When the strings on my main bass get to the point I don't like them any more, I put them on my secondary bass.
