Ready for new strings

Hey all, it's finally time..

I have some EB super slinky's on my bass at the moment, and my aunt told me she doesn't have a gift for me so I've decided I'm gonna have her get me strings. In the past I've used EB and DR strings, but I just wanted some opinions here. I am currently playing a GL jazz bass and am in a Indie/Rock band.

I've never played nor researched much on flats and I hear mixed reviews about them as to whether they can provide a heavy sound or not, and I do enjoy playing some metal in my free time.

ANYWAY the two I've been looking at right now have been :

DR Strings Hi-Beams 4-String Bass Strings Medium-Lite
http://www.guitarcenter.com/DR-Strin...97-i1122534.gc

and the

Rotosound RS77LD Jazz Bass Strings
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Rotosoun...68-i1122932.gc

I'm open to all other suggestions, just no more EB.

Theres an old recording from may-ish on http://www.myspace.com/televictim where I was using the EB SS's on the GL through an acoustic b115 and b200h. (it's not mastered or anything).

What do you like/not like about the strings you've been using? Also, what kind of sound are you looking for from your strings? Answering these question can help narrow down the list.

I found (for me at least) that the EB's are very loud and clangy, they also lose their tone a week or two after stringing.

As far as tone goes I just want something warm, but bright without losing lows.

Rotosoun Nickel 66 may be worth a look, sound bright and smooth.

DR Sunbeams. Warm, bright (not not TOO bright), and plenty of lows.

I only use Rotosounds. never found another string with that raw tone. If Rotosound went out of business I would buy GHS. dont like DR's, they don't make a .043 G-string. EB strings don't sound good.

Thanks for all the responses so far, I'm leaning towards some type of Rotosounds, since I've never tried them and I've been hearing great things about them.

I've found that EB's are one of those love-hate type of things, they're just not for me, or you .
