Hey
I am having a really hard time finding a nice or new strings to try with my resonator that has a humbucker pickup.

The bronze strings on it are very bright and scratchy esp as its a resonator -

i need something reall smooth mellow - elastic sounding!

yet the humbucker needs to pick up the signal so that mught limit me too.

they must be short scale too.

Can anyone help

i can barely find any to choose from in the stores

thanks

First I would call or e-mail Fender to see what they would recommend. The best I remember that particular bass had a shorter than usual short scale, something between 28 and 29 inches. If it is close to 29 a regular set of 30 inch sclae strings would do, especially if it has a trapeze style bridge to it, which require another inch or two of string to fit.
If that is the case, then both www.justsrtings.com and www.bpstrings.com both have several sets of short scale strings of different types to chose from. Just type in short scale bass in their search engine to pull them all up at once to look at.
Both GHS and Fender have short scale phospher bronze string sets, and flats will work on resonater basses well (I have a GHS set on mine).

Good Luck,
FG
