Recomend me some flatrounds!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I've herd all about them, and I think its time I try some! So please, if you would, recommend me some flatrounds! I would like some that have a fairly higher tension as I'm going to be playing in a dropped tuning, and they need to growl a little bit please!

I have no idea where to even start with looking for these, so I'm basing what I'm getting off of your guys's reviews.

Thanks for your time!

D'Addario Chromes, higher tension, great tone and they're reasonably priced!

Fender 9050 flats.
Probably the highest tension strings I've ever played.
They sound a little weird at first (if you're not used to flats), but soon they settle in to a nice 'percussion'-y thump.

Rotosound RS77's are pretty high tension also. Bright, for flats.

As much as I love TIs, high tension they are not. You could probably do drop tuning with them, but you're not going to be getting high tension out of 'em.

Growl is abundant, though.

As one that's used both TI flats and D'Addario flats, I believe Chromes would be a better buy for you at this time. If you find that flats work for you and you'd like lower tension, then you can try TIs. However, TIs are a lot of dough to put out when you don't even know how flats will work for you.

Went down to my little shop that I go to. They only had ernie balls. 20 bucks, might as well give them a try. Anyone got a review for these?

La Bella (Deep Talkin' Bass 760FS 45-105). I tried Roto and DR flats (45-105) both had too much tension to me.

This is what I was thinking.

Also, Ernie Ball strings are not very good IMO.

He means flatwounds.

Do you mean EB flats are not very good (in your opinion) or all of EB's strings? Interested to hear what the flats are like.
