Recomendations for a TBC 4 string JJ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a TBC 4 string JT400-JJ and would like to get some better strings for besides the stock ones. After doing some reading I came to the conclusion I would probably like Flatwounds the best since I like that low sound. However I have absolutely no idea about string brands and was hoping I could get some opionons from people to help make the decision. I read a post below about Jammerson strings and got interested but the part about them being hard to play kind of worries me and i'm wondering if they will be a bad idea since i'm new to playing and all.

I know theres a lot of posts like this but i'm hoping this one will get some responses from people with experience with TBC basses in particular so I get something that sounds good, and more importantly that will fit without major adjustments since I just barely learned how to string one yesterday lol.

Thanks in advance.

I had D'Addario flatwounds on mine for a while. I really liked them, but they just didn't work in my band. So, now I use Lo Riders, and I can't believe how great they've made my TBC sound!

Well I took your advice and went down and bought a pair of the low riders and thank you! they sound great, I didn't realize how much strings could change the tone.

The string-thing is so subjective. I did a lot of reading around here before I bought flats and in spite of little enthusiasm for them, I ended up with webstrings' flats. They sound wonderful: low, thick, smooth, great glissando. It'll change your sound more than a new bass. Go for it.
