Recommend strings for C standard tuning

I need a recommendation for a good, light gauge/high tension set for C standard tuning. Currently I'm playing on a 45-105 set, which downtuned sounds all floppy and muddy. I've searched the forum on this subject, some suggest using the bottom strings of a 5-string set, but I'd like to keep the gauge as light as possible (and I'd prefer a solution whish doesn't require nut filing). What about flats; would the extra tension enable me to use a lighter set?

Your best bet is either a light 5 string set (.120-.100.-.080- .060), or going with a hex core string like a DR Lo-Rider. DR is really cool about custom gauges. I routinely order .115 Lo Riders for my drop C tuning.

Roto 77s the steve harris ones. If your really not wanting to file the nut. They should work. They are flatwounds though. I used them for drop C...
