Vintage bass in search of strings. Favor flats for it. Considering D'Addario Chromes ECB81 Set Long Scale 45-100 Regular Light gauge or the slightly heavier ECB82 Set Long Scale. Also, Pyramid Golds is an option. But, the D and G of the Pyramid are a bit thin - 040w 055w 075w 105w - unless you customize. Don't like tension too low where the strings are too much like spaghetti (can happen with TI Jazz flats.) Play alternative as well as some Motown and rock. Some strings might be "too much" in some contexts, but I can always back off on the pre-amp tone knobs to tame it. I'd rather have too much than not enough tonal range.

AND...importantly...I AM A 100% PICK PLAYER......but, let's not go there just to discuss that. Plenty of other threads to handle it.

Some specs for this bass...
- Reverse PBass style split pickup
- Active three band EQ
- Active/Passive switch
- Dedicated passive tone knob
- Neck-through body construction
- Heavy solid block bridge (the infamous Yamaha "Scroll" Bridge)

Any other string suggestions? Thanks...
