Recycling Strings

Sign in to disble this ad
So, after a while experimenting with trying to find "my sound" I've wound up with a bunch of massive bass strings lying around. It vaugely resembles the dismembering of some giant metal beast, but I digress.

Can I, after trimming off the ball ends, take my bass strings to be recycled at a scrap metal place?

Why not? It's all steel. Or at the very least all metal. So yeah.

Yeah you can but why waste them you have hardly used them, u can sell them for more than the metal is worth.

Yeah, definitely sell them.

You would probably spend more gas money getting to the scrapyard than you would make selling them for scrap...

unfortunately I've trimmed the ball ends off.

Selling sounds like a good idea, but they'd only fit basses similar to those I took them off of.

Ive been recyclng mine using the bottle of alcohol method. Sit my strings in for 24 hrs & give it a shake or two & strings are like new again.

If they can no longer be played - just put them in with your recycling for the trash pickup.
