Red Silk Stainless... extremely snappy high end.

Received a used Spector with these on it. I took them off and put them in an alcohol bath for a few days while I did some renovations to the bass.

Once done I put the strings away and rolled through some other strings on the bass. Last night I put these red silked onces back on and wow do they have a tight snappy high end. More so than other Stainless strings i've used.

I'm assuming they're Rotosound Swingbass 66 Stainless strings...

Any other possibilities of what these may be?

I think the old Fender stainless rounds 7350 had red silks, too. Those were really bright--I'm not sure if they still are now that they are made by a different manufacturer.

I've heard of alcohol baths changing silk colors slightly as well. Maybe look for close ups of the windings. They definitely differ between brand.

The silks were the same color before and after. Whatever they are they could definately brighten up darker basses or preamps with less high end.

On a specter bolt- on with EMG 3-band and EMG DC's it was startling how crisp and snappy they were, even compared to other stainless strings on the same bass.

I have an old set of fender SS with bright red ends, and try were very bright, like ridiculously. Do the ball ends come in various colours or all the same colour ?
