Regular or tapered strings for string through body?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use regular string with my string through body basses? The fat low B and E at an extreme angle ok or not?

The tapered ones are suppose to intonate easier, but I use the regulars and have no problems.

This business about an extreme angle isn't really true. My string-thru-body Jazz Bass puts two bends in each string to keep the extreme angles from happening. And quite frankly, I've never understood the appeal of tapered or exposed core strings. Why would you want less mass at the part of the string that breaks the most often?

I believe that tapered strings will intonate using less string length compared to non tapered. So if you can't bring the saddle back far enough on your bass that would be a good reason to use tapered strings

I've recently gone to a 0.130 B on one of my basses, and I've had no problem with it.

It's important when stringing up a bass to push down hard just past the bridge to get a good break on the string...this will help intonation IMMENSELY!

+ 1 on the 'not buying into the tapered string' thing.

I've got a Jazz Deluxe, and string it through-body with either DR Lo-Beams or Rotosounds. works just fine.
