| Removing the string wrappings?

Just a (kinda stupid) question... is it possible to remove the colored string wrappings without risking damaging the string? Some strings have colors that kind of clash with the color of the bass. It's very trivial, just wondering.
PS: It's a flatwound, if that affects it at all.
