Replacing my last set of DA Prisms....

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have finally burned threw my last set of Prisms strings ( as soon as they discontinued, i bought 10 sets from a local shop )

I need a replacment. I currently have 2 basses string up with Pro Steels. Ive been using prosteels on my 5 stringers for about 3 years now, I cant stand them. They sound nothing like my old prisms, much rougher on the hands, dont have the same focused tone to my ears. Ive also tried a set on my 4 string, same problem, went back to prisms after a solid 2 months of trying them out.

Any suggestions? been thinking about trying the Hi beams out, they similar at all?

somebody...anybody?

Tried fender stainless, not bad, but much to mellow for my taste ( but perfect for my jazz bass )

I have gone full circle and I really dig Pedulla steels. They are focused with enough mids to get heard well. They are not excessively rough. I am using Pedullas made by La Bella because La Bella stopped tapering their 105 E string. The Pedullas are tapered. If you prefer a lighter gauge, La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels (40-100) get my vote. If going 45-105 the tapers in the Pedullas are a must in my experience.

And the 128T B is among the best out there.

If you want aggresive steels check out the Sadowsky Blacks.
