Restringing with a Bridge cover

ok so i was thinking about getting a cover for my P. and it sounds like a dumb question, but to restring it do i have to keep taking off the bridge cover? it would seem like a chore having to do it every time i change a string

String it with flats and you'll only have to worry about it every thirty years or so.

Generally they are held on with two small screws... Takes longer to wind the strings on the tuning pegs.

I suppose if you are purchasing a bridge cover its not going to be a vintage one, so you could always have 4 holes drilled into it to run the strings through I suppose. But that would be way more work than removing it every now and then...

I agree - flats, and the problem doesn't come around for another 20+ years.

Yes, you need to take it off, but that happens so seldom that it's not an issue.

Funny this thread came up... Last night I was playing around with my P and I decided to put my bridge cover on... As I started I said to myself... "Wait, how am I supposed to play palm mute?"

And didnt put it on...

I'm with the others here. A PBass definitely wants flats and if you put on a good set that you like it may become a vintage bass before you have to change them again. As easy as it is to take that cover off I wouldn't concern myself with it.
