Restringing my 65 Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
Getting ready to put new strings on my 65 Jazz Bass, the current set is about 15 years old or older I have forgotten, I think they are Ken Smith Stainless Rounds.

What are y'all stringing your Vintage Jazz Basses with. I am leaning toward Thomastiks, but I am also considering ground wounds, I want to be kind to the frets - first 5 positions are showing some wear as expected. Just looking for some ideas, not a deep philosophical discussion, but your thoughts and opinions are welcome Thank you!

LaBella 760 FL flats. I use them on all my basses including my 59 P, 52 P, and 61 J.

If you want to use rounds go with some nickles, they are easier on the frets

Actually, the 760FL's are the light gauge with red silk wrapping. The Jamersons are the heavy's with blue wrapping. Equally cool, but I fear for my bass neck!

I have the FL's they are equal to most Medium Gauge String IME.

Did not try the Jamerson Set yet.
