"Ridgeless" strings?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi string gurus. I bought a new (used) bass tonight and it came with these strings that feel smooth to the touch. The ridges are there but I can't feel them when I play. I would like to switch all my basses to these strings but I don't know what kind they are?

They look like D Addarios. I say that because they have color coded ends.

Any help you can extend to help me ID these strings will be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

sounds like any flat round, or the half wounds which are traditional strings ground down to be flat.

The color coding is a definite D'addario giveaway. So they are either Halfrounds or Chromes. If you can see a little bit of space between the windings, they're Halfrounds. If you can't, they're Chromes.
