Roto 66 Swing Bass

I got a set of these strings that I want to try on my Ric. I normally use Blue Steels. The problem is that if I cut them for the Ric and I don't like them as well, they'll be too short for my other basses which all have inline headstocks. So before I cut them for the Ric, I thought I'd ask if anyone could tell me how they compare to the Blue Steels. I have a bass that needs strings, but it isn't one of my main players and I don't want to necessarily waste a set of Blue Steels on it, but if I dislike the Rotos on my Ric, I'd like to put them on this bass.

So, anyone who cares to comment on the differences between these Rotos and Blue Steels, your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Rotos are a much more aggressive sounding string than Blue Steels are. I used Rotos for a traditional "rock" sound from my bass; articulate, has a lot of grind and bite. The Blues I used for everything else.

That's just what I wanted to hear. Thank you very much.

Besides what floyd said, the blue steels are also a lot brighter sounding then roto 66's.

I would disagree with this. I've found the Blues deeper sounding, especially after the loss of that "new string sound" whereas the 66s keep that brighter, gritty rock sound for a long time.

Maybe I should try them again. Yrs ago when I was going back and forth between Roto 66 and Dean Blue steels I was changing strings much more frequently. Changed strings about every 3 months or little more often. The extra brightness of the blue steels new compared to rotos was quite noticeable. But did rather like the blue steels crack of thunder lows.
