roto nexus compared to hi-beams/elixirs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just seen the new Rotosound Nexus strings, (it's news to us in the UK) how are they? Do they have the 'signature' Roto growl and presence? How would they compare to Hi-Beams or Elixirs? (I know those two are very different in feel and tonality, but I mention them just as a point of reference.) I love both Hi-Beams and Elixirs for different purposes, but I'm intrigued by these new Rotosounds, I wonder if they might solve the old 'dead after 10 minutes' problem.

Any word on these strings yet? I need to get a new set soon and these have definitely caught my eye. I've been using rotosounds for a while and I love the tone, and I'm interested to know if these will give me that roto round wound sound but won't die so quickly.

I use Roto Nexus on my Brawley and I love em. They're similar to the 66 sound with a bit more mids. So you may have to adjust your eq a bit if you don't like that. I especially love them because they come in a black polymer coating, and unlike DR's they don't shed the color as you play. And unlike Elixers the coating doesn't turn to fuzz after extended use. These are my new favorite strings and i'm gonna keep using them. The only really big downside is the price. They cost more than DR's coated do at the shop I shop at, but not as much as Elixers. So lets hope they last a while. Had em on for two months now and havn't killed a string yet.

Awesome, thanks for the quick review man! These sound like exactly what I'm looking for. Should look pretty classy with the black hardware on my Warwick. Yeah they are a bit more expensive, but if they last as long you say then it'll certainly be worth it. Can't wait to order a set.
