Tone for days... I'd recommend these (or the Rotosounds, to stay on topic ) to anybody.

I didn't know they still made them. Cool! I used to use them back in the 70's.
To hear the tone of these strings, listen to My Generation by the Who, and any Sly and the Family Stone recordings with Larry Graham on bass. Also Graham Maybe on the early Joe jackson records.
I've also used the LaBella. They are a bit darker sounding, but also good. The LaBella Deep Talkin' Bass stainless steel flatwounds are very cool. They are bright and punchy. One of my favorite strings. |

Back in the 70's I tried some brand of tapewound that were roundwounds with heat shrink tubing over them! They were weird. Very dull... good for dub. I forget who made them.
I've been thinking about these Rotos lately... must be a sign! I didn't know they still made them. |

Glad you like them! | The GHS tapewounds are very different sounding than the Rotosounds. The Rotos are bright, while the GHS are dark sounding.
Like I said... My Generation... that's bright! And Larry Graham invented slapping on them. |

It just gives them a different tone. In the case of the Rotosounds, it's brighter than most flats (although they make pretty bright flats... listen to Steve Harris), but don't have the ringing tone of a round wound. It's a bright thud.
Listen to this: Got the Time
Hey Psychicpet... that's a SWEET Bongo! I like the Jeff Berlin sig. I met him twice and had my bass with me both times, but never thought about having him sign it... I even forgot my camera!

(Monel Flatwound) set? You said tape wounds but I don't see anything like that at the Rotosound website. Quote:
