Rotosound bad after 2 week

Maybe its just me, but after 2 weeks with these rotosounds on (orange package) then sound a lot drier than any other string I've had after this long. I mean most string just lose their zing over time, but they always retain some measure of deepness that you associate with dead strings, but these don't even have that, they're just really really dry sounding is the best I can describe it. They seem to have no tone left, lost all the mids and a good portion of lows... sounds pretty dull compared to say...a week ago.

Is it just me or is do you fellas have a similar experience with them?

Thats Rotosounds, easily one of the best sounding strings out of the packet but die very quickly. Great strings if you can afford to put on a new set every gig or two but pretty crap for periods of sustained practicing.

That's a shame. I got them because they were the best compromise out there for having a .110 low string. I want a low .110 but the rest .85 .65 .45, which are standard in a set with a .105. Problem with getting most sets with a .110 is you get the thicker higher 3 strings too. With the rotos only the top 2 are thicker, and even then less than the ones a .110 set gives you.

Oh well, looks like I'll be buying bulk individually.

I love the tone of old Roto Swingbass rounds. They don't lose any lows or mids to my ears, but mostly the ringing harmonics at higher frequencies. That said, I like the new tone even more, so I usually save a new set for gigs and practice with older ones.

I know it's a different set of strings than you're talking about, but I've been using a set of Rotosound RB40 Nickel medium gauge (in a yellow package and cheaper than the Swing 66's) for over a 2 years and they still sound very good.
