Thumbs up Rotosound Customer Service (long post)

Just wanted to share my recent customer service experience with Rotosound.

Email sent to Rotosound:

Hello,

I purchased a set of Rotosound RS66LD for a 2008 Fender American Standard Precision bass. This set was installed with the strings strung through the body, with no problems. I am very impressed with these strings. I have used this bass with these strings on several gigs with many compliments.

Yesterday I purchased a set of Rotosound BS66 strings to put on my 2005 Fender American Series Jazz bass. I started installing them on the jazz bass, stringing the strings through the body, as was done with my precision bass. When trying to string the A string through the body, the silk winding at the end of the string overlapped the nut of tthe bass. It wasn't even close, the silk extended past the nut and over the fingerboard. I ended up string the A string though the bridge. So the bass is strung with the G, D, and E strings through the body, and the A string through the bridge. I was surprised, considering I had no problems stringing my precision pass through the body with the RS66LD set. Both of these bass are 4 string, 34" scale Fenders.

My questions are:
1) is this considered normal?
2) Should I be using a different model number of strings on these basses?

Response from Rotosound:

Hi Marty,
We did lengthen our long scale strings a while back to accommodate a wider range of models so its possible that you have an earlier version `A` (SBL080). It is our mistake not yours.
If you send me your address I will send you the correct one FOC.
Will await to hear from you and sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Best regards,
John

They shipped a replacement string immediately, via UPS! Replaced the A string last night - strung through the body with no problems. I'm impressed. I call this great customer service.

As far as the Billy Sheehan signature strings go...I really like them. They just kill on my passive Fender MIA jazz. Very ballsy. I prefer these gages over the standard Swing Bass 66, even tension across the neck, E string is taunt, feels good.

Theses strings are a winner in book.

I had an issue with a G string not too long ago on a new set of RS's. I emailed them and they sent me a new set lickety split. Great customer service if you ask me!

That's awesome! At first, I thought you were going to have some horror story about an awful customer service experience. Just makes me love my favorite strings (Swing 66) that much more.

I've wondered about the Billy Sheehan strings for a while. I just need to get a pack...

I did too when I bought them. I wanted to have the same experience with my jazz bass that I had when I put the Swing 66's on my precision, so I hemmed and hawed around on which set to buy. Glad I went ahead with the BS66's. I will buy the BS66s for the precision once it comes time to replace them.

Nice, man. The Swing 66s were the first strings I bought (my first bass came with D'Addario rounds). I just love the sound, the feel, the look, everything.

Wondering which bass I want to try the BS66s on. So far, I've been really happy with every gauge I've tried. I haven't tried Rotosound's .50 rounds yet. Or the flats. I really love the .45 Swing 66 set with the .80 A string. Such a wacky set of gauges...I dig it! I want to try the funkmaster set on a 34" scale bass. They would be so crunchy.

I recently had an issue with a set of Rotos, and emailed customer service. They answered me same day, and sent me two replacement sets straight away. Awesome company to deal with!
I've been using RS66 strings since 1970, and usually but 10-20 sets at a time... wouldn't buy anything else.
