Rotosound Flats

Has anyone tried both the RotoSound Jazz Bass 77:RS 77LE (heavy gauge) and the Steve Harris Signature: SH77 strings? Just going by the descriptions they seem identical. Maybe the only difference is the SH package comes with a pic of SH? That and $2.50?

I haven't tried the signature set but I'm pretty sure that the packaging and price are the only differances. The 77 jazz flats also have a selection of different gauges. They are nice strings if you want a brighter sounding flat.

The Steve Harris have Purple Silk...

Purple makes you look good!

I am not sure if there are any string construction differences between the two besides the Purple silk...

I think they are the same set, but with different color silks. Harris makes some money when you buy the Harris set.

I love the 45-105 Roto flats, the heavier gauges just seem to add stiffness and not much else, to my ears.

I have been playing the SH strings on all of my basses for several years. And I am not really a fan of SH, but I am a fan of the strings.

They start off VERY bright for flatwounds, and play in smooth and long. I play a lot, and I play HARD,but these strings hold up for a LONG time. Usually catch them on sale on Musicians Friend, order several sets, and don't think about strings again for quite a while.
