Rotosound length?

Sign in to disble this ad
Quick question about Rotos... are the standard rotosound swing 66 (stainless steel) strings long enough to use with a standard long-scale string-thru body bass? I only ask because I've learned the hard way that standard length daddarios are NOT long enough and begin to taper before the nut on the E-string causing all sorts of ungainly rattles and making them effectively useless, yet DR's are plenty long enough.

THANKS!

They are long enough. I had a set strung through my old ATK 305.

Yes, they are long enough and, in fact, perfect for string-thru (on my MIA Jazz and P all strings wind three times around the post without snipping any ends).

I have a problem with the Rotos on a bass that is not string thru ... the threads on the ball ends end up sitting on the saddles, and the main part of the string wrapping around the tuning post.

On my '08 P Bass, I have Roto Swing Bass top-loaded and none of the ball-end wrappings come close to the saddle witness points; only the E string slightly wraps around the tuning post, and I don't think it's problematic.
