I love my Rotos, but I feel they just die way too quick. Can someone recommend me a string with the bright snappy sound that lasts awile?

Ken Smith SS(Rockmasters?)are very bright IIRC(haven't used them lately but have in the past & I like bright & twangy). Seems like they lasted alright.

+1 on that!
These are like Roto Clones! In fact, I think they sound better.
Lots of growl, punch, mids, and snappy bright treble!
They even feel stiff like Rotos tension wise, but the windings feel slightly and I quote {Slightly} smoother.

I have no clips; I'm old and technology frightens me. I just changed my avatar and nearly wet myself w/fright(at least I think it was from fright..).
P-BASSLOVER, you reminded me how much I liked these strings. I may need to try some again- maybe on the Stambaugh 6...
Not sure I want something of a higher tension, though. I don't recall the KS's being tight, but I go light-gauge.

When I used them I tried the 45-105 guage. The 45-100's or 40- 95's would probably suit you better.

DR Low-Riders sound close to Roto's... last long as well.

Since Rotosound went to new machines and really fixed their QC issue, I found they last a good while. But, I really don't slap much. More of a finger funk player and use the 100-40 gauges. To me, they sound bassy-r, cut through the mix. I remember in the '80s that sometimes, there would be dead string in a Rotosound Set.
I saw Stanley Clarke a couple of years ago at Blues Alley in DC, and when he got on stage, he had a bottle rubbing alcohol that he pored on his hands to keep 'em dry. I read that in Gary Willis' 101 bass tips. Use rubbing alcohol to keep hands dry. Tip #?
DRs do last a long time. You might want to check them out as mentioned above.

I was a long time user of Rotosound Swingg 66's i.e.35 years and switched over to DR lo-riders at the suggestion of one of bass players on TB and haven't looked back since. They have long lasting sound, brightness, and durability. I've also tried the DR Sunbeams and I am equally impressed by their long lasting capability. Try them out. What have you got to lose?
