Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, well I've never been a fan of D'Addario strings and I got some Rotosounds for my beginers Ibanez bass and it sounds a lot better, so I decided to replace my D'Addario strings on my artcore with Rotosound Tru Bass 88 Black Nylon Flatwound strings (65-115)
anyone had these before?
I'm just trying to get the best sound out of my semi

cheers

Tom

Thumbs up Flatwounds

I cant speak for the Rotosounds but I also have an Artcore and it sounds great with the D'Addario Chromes Flats and with the Labella Tapewounds. Im using the Tapewounds because it gives it more of a "woody" sound that fits the type of music I play but they both sound much better then the strings that it came with stock.

"Tru Bass 88
(Black Nylon Flatwound)
Most famously heard on the Beatles album ‘Abbey Road’. Super smooth with ultra low tension transforms any electric bass into a jazzy upright sound. Works great on fretless. Also works well with any kind of jazz, fusion, dub and reggae styles. Heard on ‘Transformer’ by Lou Reed, courtesy of Herbie Flowers."

Just because they're big, that doesn't mean they're tight. Remember, they're nylon wrapped over a metal. So the unit mass for a .065 tapewound is not going to be near the unit mass of a .065 flatwound. Which means that for a given diameter, the tapewound will be significantly lower tension.
