I have tried these on my fretless. They have an awesome sound that is very different from rounds or flats. They are very low tension which takes some getting used to. The only thing I didn't like about them is that for me they didn't stay in tune that well. I didn't have my bass setup after putting them on though so that might have had something to do with it. Great feel and tone though. I'm thinking of trying them again at some point. I haven't tried any other tapewound strings though so I can't help there.
