Just slapped a set of these on my Tobias a few days ago. Can't get enough of them! I love the way these sound, and feel. Love that scratchy rough feel to my string... Its what gives you those manly callouses

Anyone else like these strings?

Ya either love 'em or you hate 'em. I love 'em. Though they can get a little harsh if you don't reel them in withyour EQ.

you can't keep them off my basses, even my fretless. just a growly, gritty sound. it takes a manly man (or woman) to ride those strings

They lose the bright "Roto" tone real fast, in say two weeks or so.
LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels sound similar(albeit a little darker) but retain their tone for a couple of months....a much better value IMO.

Buy 'em in groups of 6.
There's 4 sets left in the box now.

They're one brand of strings that I generally like the sound of when they're dead, but the new sound is incredible.

I'm somehow always ending back on Rotosound 66's, dunno why, Guess I just feel at home with them. Ok, they die after a month or so, but I can aford it.

I just put a set of 66's on my G&L SB-2, and love them! The initial zing these strings have is in a category by itself. I'm curious to experience the tapering off, as the strings naturally "die" down a bit. I hope I will still like them.

I worked at home with them on for about 2 days, and then rolled to band practice last night. I was warming up, and our guitarist said, "that sounds punchier than usual." I could tell it wasn't necessarily a compliment. But, when we started playing as a band everything was perfect in the mix. I felt I was cutting through with punch better than ever before. Everything just felt very responsive, and the range of frequency I was hearing was great, IMHO.

I like the profile of this string as much as I do DR Sunbeams (my usual brand). This is the right kind of tension I need for the rock I play.

Put me in the love category. Actually, I use Billy Sheehan set on my jazz bass - BS66

Same strings, different gages, which I prefer.

I used them from about 1976 to 2006.Loved them however, someone, and I can't remember who, told me about the DR strings, specifically,Sunbeams, and I haven't gone back to the Rotosound 66 since.Maybe I should go back and try a set of them again. However,I have a set of Dunlops that are waiting to be evaluated.

I took the Dunlops off to try the Roto 66's. To me, the Dunlops were too "thwappy" when digging into either E or A strings, specifically on the open notes.

As it stands right now, it's a coinflip for me between these 66's and the Sunbeams. Both great strings, IMHO.
