Jaco pastorius used Rotosound Roundwounds on his basses. Even his Bass of Doom

i currently have rotosound jazz flat 77's (i believe that's right--they come in a red package ) on my MIM fretless jazz. i like then, they have a really good presence and tone. i can get a great amount of mwah with them and kick up the growl with the bridge PUP up. i switched from TI jazz flats which are pretty easy on the fingers--my rotosounds are TOUGH. really tore up my fingers after my first time playing them

Rotosound makes a lot of different types of strings, not just one.

Usually people are referring to the Swing Bass 66 set that is stainless steel roundwounds. Those typify the "Rotosound sound."

Demon--You might like the brightness and definition; but depending on your touch, you might also find that the SB roundwounds eat your fretboard more quickly than you'd care for.

I use round wounds on mine fine. Sure they will eat the board eventually, but thats life. The sound is great!
