Rotosounds on a Gibson Thunderbird

Sign in to disble this ad
ooooh yes.

On advice from this forum I just bought some Rotosound swing bass 66 LDs and I am very very happy.

I was using Blue Steels on my Gibson Thunderbird IV which I liked but found that the E string was hard to fit in at the back bit and it was also slightly too long which meant that the fat part of the string would start going around the tuny nob bit up the other end as well.

Sorry for all the tech talk, hope people can follow.

Anyway, not only do the Rotos have silk at BOTH ends, but the thicknesses and lengths are also perfect for the T-bird.

Oh yeah and so far they sound ferkin amazing.

Thanks to all the peoples here who vouched for them. I think I have found my strings!

I had them on my Thunderbird (great bass, long gone). Amazing match for that instrument, it sounded incredible through my SVT (the only quirk being a leap in volume and sustain when playing a low A, sounded like it was feeding back).

What gauge did you get? I have a set of rotosounds on my Epiphone thunderbird (not quite the same ), but I don't like them very much.... The E string seems to be thicker than standard 105, but the rest seem normal. I'm thinking about replacing them, possibly still rotosounds but a more suitable gauge.

In my experience, D'addario kick Rotosound into the dirt!
