"Chris uses Rotosound Swing Bass standard-gauge strings (.045, .065, .080, .105), with custom Rotosounds for his extended-range Tobias." http://www.chrissquire.com/cs_equipeffects.html
I use them on T-Birds a lot. Be warned: Rotosound roundwounds, although giving "the sound", do cause fretwear more than any string I've used. If you have more than one bass or can afford new frets when it finally comes to that(depending on playing)...OK. I never had frets replaced and I've been using them since they where "invented". Here's what one of my retired T-Birds looked like(it still played and sounded great) after about 8 years in rotation. The frets were pretty worn already when I bought this one....use the 3rd fret a lot eh?

I think I'll stick with these rotosounds for now. They are a little rough and sucked to put on, but I really dig the sound. No problems yet. |

| | | | from what i hear rotos have quite high tension, you might want to go to lighter gauge than usual. |

(I got the bass from my father and he kept using rotosound as do I)
Granted he didnt play it nearly as much as I do, but I wont be needing a refret for a long while. |

I was a roto buyer from the start, my band teacher recommended them, but the last set i bought lasted literally 1 band practice before they went dead on me. Great out of the package, like no other, but the last set i bought really forced me to try other things. Currently trying dean markley blue steels.
I mean, they aren't bad, and certainly they sound wonderful, but they die quick. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
