Rotosounds -- Too tight!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
To the Group -

I went to my local GC last Friday for some nice flats for my Yamaha P-Bass. The salesman recommended Rotosound Jazz Bass 77's. (RS 77LD - 45/65/85/105 to be exact)

Cool -- I took 'em home and laced em on.

While I love the smooth feel of them, they feel too darned TIGHT! Playing these things is a real chore and they have to go.

Anyone have suggestions for a nice smooth-feeling set of flats that will give me some nice P-Bass thump while being more ... more ... >>>strugging for the proper word<<< ... SUPPLE!

Supple (n)
1) Readily bent; pliant.
2) Moving and bending with agility; limber.

... Yeah, that's the word, supple.

Anyway, I think ya'll get the picture. Can anybody help a Brother out with a suggestion?

Before you give up, try taking some relief out of the neck. Heavy flats with low action make for a cool smooth playing experience.

If you like a softer feel with less tension, try the Thomastiks.

+1 on the TIJF's. Nice low tension and very rich harmonically
