I was looking for some flatwounds or tapewounds when I came across the rotosounds 88's. Any feedback on them? Good? Bad?

Very good. As with any tapewounds, there will be some grounding issues. I love them on fretless.

I was actually planning on using them on a fretted bass because I heard alot of people say they still gave an upright kinda sound. Do they still give that smooth upright sound with frets?

Uh... Never used 88s specifically on a fretted bass, but I've used other tapes and they still had a nice, smooth tone. Realistically, it's not gonna be just like an upright, but it's still a nice tone regardless.
